Gainsborough Trinity were made to pay by a clinical Lancaster City at the Giant Axe. The Dolly Blues taking their chances and making Russ Wilcox's side rue missed first half opportunities, as the goal difference took an uncharacteristic hit, at the same time.

Gainsborough Trinity fell to a narrow defeat to fellow play-off chasers, Stockton Town. Drawing a third successive blank to slip out of the play-off places with four left to play. The only goal of the game coming deep in first half stoppage time, amidst a swirling gale that swept across the Map UK Stadium.

Gainsborough Trinity passed up the opportunity to climb to fourth in the table with a game in hand, ahead of Saturday's big home game against Warrington Rylands, falling to a 1-0 home defeat to Bamber Bridge, at the Kal Group Stadium. The manner of the defeat, in horrendous conditions, irking manager Russ Wilcox.
